The Middle Earth Collection: Doors of Durin

We return to Middle-Earth for this much anticipated new design inspired by the world of Tolkien. We start our journey at the gate to the abandoned Mines of Moria with our new Doors of Durin pattern.

The Doors of Durin Mellon

The Doors of Durin is one of the most enduring motifs from the world of The Lord of the Rings – a doorway to the Mines of Moria constructed during a collaboration between the Dwarves and the Elves of the Second Age – this design is loved by Tolkien fans around the world.
We have previously adapted this timeless design to fit our gorgeous Cashwool baby blankets and throws, however this new take on the Doors has been exclusively developed by the designers here at Oscha with wrapping and baby carrying in mind.

This familiar door to the Mines of Moria is presented in an effervescent blue, intended to represent the magical moment when the Sindarin word for ‘Friend’ (Mellon) is spoken by Gandalf and the gateway is opened to the travellers of the Fellowship in the Third Age, after generations lying closed to the world.
The Elvish inscription above the doors is faithfully reproduced on this wrap, reading:

“The Doors of Durin, Lord of Moria. Speak, friend, and enter. I, Narvi, made them. Celebrimbor of Hollin drew these signs.”

The placement of the Doors is such that the whole of the door will lie across your little ones back when wrapped – meaning the Door sits in the top two thirds of the wrap width, with a cascade of ivy flowing through the bottom third, much of which will be tucked under the seat when is use.

Woven with organic combed cotton for a lovely softness and a little cush, and with linen for unparalleled strength and a hint of shimmer this wrap is perfect for all ages. Soft enough for tiny ones, but strong enough for toddlers too. Soft and breathable, Doors of Durin is a great all-rounder, the perfect wrap for any Lord of the Rings fan!

Our Middle Earth Collection will be growing over the next few months: with new designs, new colourways and new additions to the Mithril Collection. We have customer favourites returning in updated colourways, fresh additions arriving with classic colours and more adventurous options – covering all the differing tastes of Tolkien fans. Make sure you are following us on Facebook and have signed up to our newsletters to get information about new additions and releases before anyone else.

Thanks so much Chloe – we think it’s a really lovely way to use the whole wrap while still showcasing the Doors when in use!
