We take a stroll through a moonlit garden seeking inspiration for our newest Collection: After Dark. Bathed in an ethereal glow, the garden takes on a supernatural calm once the sun goes down. With rich, warm colours, a few pops of brilliant brightness and a focus on the natural world, this Collection promises to be gorgeously varied with designs & colours to suit all tastes.
The After Dark Collection
The After Dark Collection will be with us from late October 2017 all the way through to early January 2018. Running through two distinct seasons this Collection takes its cues from autumnal warmth as well as the comforting chill of deep winter. Harnessing warm oranges, rich navy, cool purple and strong greens, the After Dark Collection is wonderfully diverse in its hues while maintaining the essential warmth we all crave at the changing of the seasons.
The Mithril Collection is a collection of limited and luxurious wraps featuring our Middle Earth designs. Just as the Boutique Collection runs alongside our main range, Mithril offers Middle Earth fans unique blend choices in specially woven colourways.
Galadriel Namarie Baby Wrap
Woven on a gorgeous dusty fade of warm blues these wraps are effortlessly timeless, bringing a stunning sophistication to the Mithril Collection. This fade is exclusive to our Mithril Collection and will be found on all six of our upcoming releases.
The upright position in the sling can help colicky babies and those with reflux.
The time spent sitting upright in a sling also has the same effect on a baby’s muscles as ‘tummy time’. This helps them to develop their core strength which is essential for their physical development, from holding their heads up to crawling and walking.
We’re pleased to be part of a rich heritage of carrying in Scotland and whilst researching the Plaid carry we have been reminded of the importance of passing on the tradition of carrying to our family and friends.
We loved how the majority of the people we spoke with were familiar with the Plaid, and could recall seeing it being done often, but interestingly few could remember how to do it themselves!
Those few that did know, not only remembered but had carried their children, their grandchildren and even their great-grandchildren in it.
Our cottolin and wild silk blend is well loved by our customers! Perfect from newborn to toddler, this is a versatile blend which is a great option for those new to wrapping. Easy to tighten with a good amount of grip & glide this soft blend is a natural all-rounder.
Soft and strong organic combed cotton is mixed with a hint of linen in the warp, this adds a delicate strength while maintaining the malleability and drape of the cotton. Wild silk is naturally breathable and strong with little bulk. The gorgeous mouldability of this blend allows pass to glide and knot easily, with a good grip meaning it stays in place with little sag even when carrying bigger kids.
Read on for reviews from Oscha customers who have tried this blend. Please bear in mind that wrapping qualities can be a very personal experience!
The Cairis is such a wonderfully versatile carrier. Quick and easy to use with wide wrap straps that give comfort like wrapping. Here are some tips to help you get the maximum comfort from the innovative design.
Ensure the padded tongue is sitting under the webbing; the Strata Linea waistband was specifically designed for this, to provide extra comfort and to prevent the webbing from digging in.
Take a moment with your little one, find peace, unwind and bond with our Yoga flow. This sequence has been specially tailored by new mum & yoga instructor Emma Isokivi, together with Heather Burns Yoga to create a slow yoga flow made especially with parents & new mothers in mind.
Maria practicing with her little one in our Rei Motif baby wrap
Yoga can be a great way to relax and gently exercise while bonding with your little one. We spoke to our model & photographer Maria and yoga instructor Emma about their experiences of practicing with their little ones.
“When you become a mother, the world seems to spin faster and sometimes everything seems to be too much and somehow blurry. Yoga can help to slow down again, to breathe, to keep your thoughts together in this crazy circus, called life.”
“My yoga practice now all about supporting my family; my little one, myself and husband. Sometimes he crawls around between my legs, and when he was much smaller he often was in my arms or in a sling during most of my day- whether it be on my mat or walking around. It’s a special time to be connected to your child, wrapped in with you. And a yoga practice is so much more than just postures- it’s a whole life philosophy.”
One of the things I love most about wrapping my babies is experimenting with different carries and finishes. There are SO MANY fancy finishes out there for every carry and wrap size – just a quick YouTube search will get you dozens of tutorials!
For those just starting out – or are just in need of quick, easy finishes – then check out these 6 easy fancy finishes for double hammock carries featuring Oscha Slings’ Rei Electric Dreams!
My criteria for choosing these finishes are that they must:
Look complicated and pretty (obviously this is quite subjective)
Be able to get done quickly (with less that 3 steps for the finish before tying off – the basic Double Hammock steps are excluded from this, of course
Be easy to master (you should be able to do these without watching a video after doing them a couple of times)
Three of these (Freshwater, Saltwater, and Candy Cane Chest Belt) I do very often, but the other three (Sweetheart, Poppin’s, and Pond) I only tried for the first time for the purpose of this post. The fact they look so good in these photos is proof of how easy they are to do!
Our gorgeous Elvish colourway brings the Middle Earth Collection to a close for now. We will return with new Mithril Collection wraps in the Autumn and with new warps and designs in the new year, but we end our 2017 additions with Galadriel & Evenstar Haven.
