Choosing A Sling For Your New Baby

Newborns are precious and delicate, needing extra care and support. They need help to keep their head up, their airways open and their body supported – and woven wraps and ring slings are ideal for this.

Roses Beaujolais Baby Wrap

Woven wraps are suitable from birth, and are the recommended carrying method for babies who are born prematurely, or who have additional needs such as low muscle tone.

By being able to adjust each millimetre of fabric, to mould around you and your baby, you can ensure they’re safe, comfortable and secure in their natural newborn position, and you can experience all the benefits of that closeness while being hand’s free too.

Our Cairis is also suitable from birth. If you’d prefer something with a little more structure and less tying, it would be the perfect choice for you.

Top Tips for Ultimate Cairis Comfort

The Cairis is such a wonderfully versatile carrier. Quick and easy to use with wide wrap straps that give comfort like wrapping. Here are some tips to help you get the maximum comfort from the innovative design.
The Waistband

Ensure the padded tongue is sitting under the webbing; the Strata Linea waistband was specifically designed for this, to provide extra comfort and to prevent the webbing from digging in.

Yoga can be a great way to relax and gently exercise while bonding with your little one. We spoke to our model & photographer Maria and yoga instructor Emma about their experiences of practicing with their little ones.

Maria says:

“When you become a mother, the world seems to spin faster and sometimes everything seems to be too much and somehow blurry. Yoga can help to slow down again, to breathe, to keep your thoughts together in this crazy circus, called life.”

Emma says:

“My yoga practice now all about supporting my family; my little one, myself and husband. Sometimes he crawls around between my legs, and when he was much smaller he often was in my arms or in a sling during most of my day- whether it be on my mat or walking around. It’s a special time to be connected to your child, wrapped in with you. And a yoga practice is so much more than just postures- it’s a whole life philosophy.”

What is a Sling Library?

Babywearing is a practice that flourishes in the context of the real life social meet up. With most babywearing retailers operating online, and with the fabric feel and construction such an important element in considering a purchase, opportunities to touch and try out different fabric blends in one space are truly valued. The opportunity to try a variety of styles of carrier, with support from experienced or professional babywearers, allows the chance to explore and to practice with guidance and support. Of course there is also the added benefit of being in the company of other people who feel as passionately about carrying as you do!

Lots of our customers have been asking about some of the differences between the Coorie and Cairis carriers. Below is a comparison of the unique elements to each carrier.

Toddler Cairis Review

Mother of two, qualified Doula and Oscha model Diana Warner put our toddler Cairis to the test. She also provides an insight into what her husband thinks of the carrier below.

The Toddler Cairis is fantastic. Oscha’s design for this is wonderfully insightful. The little details that went into the design elements are evident.

Lets chat about the specifics of the carrier; I have measurements as seen in the picture below laid against the Baby Cairis so you can get a good idea of what to expect in hand if you’re familiar with that one and other mei-tai carriers. I have also taken a picture of the toddler Cairis laid flat out so that you can understand its entire shape.
